Social Media Content Developer; Clinical Assistant
Emily Coppa recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Ryerson University with a minor in Philosophy and hopes to gain more experience in the field of Psychology in her time with us. Emily aspires to get her Master’s in Clinical Psychology and work professionally as a therapist for those living with eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and personality disorders. She comes with her own lived experience with these complex topics and has worked with non-profit organizations to help spread information and awareness about eating disorders. She has volunteered for elderly and child care services, is an active supporter in eating disorder recovery groups, and was a member of the Student Wellness Advisory Group at Ryerson University.
Her current research interests are the interaction between physiology and psychology; specifically how chronic stress interplays with the body and how this is reflected in Anorexia Nervosa and dieting regimens. Emily approaches health and wellbeing in a holistic way including food, body, and mind, and hopes to share her perspectives with those at TPWG. She is passionate about listening to others’ experiences and believes in the importance of cultivating a sense of empathy and compassion to understand and relate to others.
In her spare time, Emily loves to read, think, exercise, and eat.
